A BMI of 30 and over, or 27 and over with a weight related condition, is the range where people are usually eligible for GLP-1 treatment. A licensed provider makes the decision.

Start Your Evaluation

BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. It does not account for muscle mass, and it is only one of the things a provider looks at.

What BMI actually measures

Body Mass Index compares your weight against your height. That is all it does. It is a fast way to see roughly where you sit, which is why clinicians use it as a starting point. It cannot tell muscle from fat, so a very muscular person can read as overweight while carrying very little.

What BMI qualifies for treatment

The usual criteria are a BMI of 30 and over, or 27 and over alongside a weight related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or sleep apnea. Your provider reads your full history before deciding, so a number on this page is a guide and not an answer.

What happens next

The evaluation takes about five minutes. A provider licensed in your state reviews it and prescribes if treatment is appropriate for you. If it is not, you are not charged. No insurance and no clinic visit either way.
